How to Play

2 Minutes to Escape is a fun 13-level escape game where you have to complete all 13 levels in under 2 minutes. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Press the red arrow on the white button to start the game. This will bring up the story prompt then start the game. There is a skip button in the upper right corner if you want to skip the story.
A button in the upper right corner allows you to turn sounds on or off.
You have 2 minutes to make it out of the rocket.
Game Controls
- Use your keyboard arrow keys to jump or move left or right.
- Players using touchscreen devices can use the on-screen controls with the direction buttons being at the bottom left and the jump button being at the bottom right.
- Dying
  - In each mini-level you are given 3 heart containers. Any time you hit something with an electric charge or are shot you lose one of the 3 hearts.
  - If you lose 3 hearts inside a stage then you start inside that same stage again with full health, however the time that was used in the prior attempt counts against your 2 minutes.
  - When the 2 minute clock counts to zero it is game over and you start again at the first level.
  - Strategy
    - Your main enemy in this game is time.
      - If you get hit early in a level in a way you should not and are unlikely to make it through that level with the remaining health then intentionally dying out as fast as possible is a great strategy for preserving time.
      - It is quickly to move quickly through the first half dozen or so easy levels as levels get significantly more difficult as you get through the game.
      - To make it through each level you need to still have health left while activating the door switch to open it and pass through the door.
        Quite often when you are hit in later levels your character gets stunted. This can lead to a cascading wave of hits as some of the red platforms you jump on temporarily disappear quickly after being stepped on.
        To get around these cascading waves of doom it helps to jump arbitrarily near the beginning of the level to have the first laser shoot astray and then time the remainder of your jumps in a fast sequence.
        Specific level advice
        On level 11 fall onto the first platform rather than jumping on it. When you get on the final red platform immediately jump in the opposite direction.
        On level 12 – the hallway level with vertical shocks – wait until you see where they are and time moving between them. A single hit kills you and they move at different speeds. On the final one be sure you are right next to it before trying to pass through it as
        The last level is brutally difficult with 5 required jumps on disappearing platforms, a jump on an electrified platform, and 3 shooting lasers.
        While the game is short, the difficulty of the last 3 levels (especially the final level) really gives this game an 8-bit NES feel.
