  • Starting the Game
    • Click on the green and white play button near the bottom of the welcome screen.
      • This will bring up the character select screen.
      • Click on any of the characters to reveal their stats. When you find the character you want to use click on the arrow in the lower right corner of the game.
      • The welcome screen contains developer information and sound control buttons in the upper right corner.
      • Your game progress is automatically stored in your local web browser.
        • If you have played the game before it will ask if you want to start a new game or continue your prior game. When you continue the game you start on the last level you have not yet beat. You can’t go back to earlier previously beat levels.
        • You can not change characters in the middle of the game.
        • If you beat the game the save game file is erased and you start the game from the beginning on the next play.
        • If you would like to play with multiple characters after being stuck with one character you can play the game with different characters in different web browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Opera.
        • Game Controls
          • The upper left corner of the screen show your health and special power meter.
            • When your super power is full it will light up a button in the lower left corner of the screen.
            • Clicking that button can clear out most of the enemies on a level.
            • Your super power does not carry over from level to level and the feature is disabled during end of level boss battles.
            • The meter charges faster when you do combo attacks.
            • The top center of the screen shows your level progress. A widget near this meter shows if the level goal is fighting, timed, or a boss battle.
            • The top right corner of the screen has a pause button.
              • After you pause the game when you unpause it the game offers a 3 2 1 countdown before returning you to action.
              • Mouse & keyboard
                • Click on the screen in the direction you would like your character to move. When your character moves via a mouse click it will automatically attack.
                • You can also move using the arrow keys on your keyboard, however you do not attack while moving in this fashion.
                • In the lower left corner of the game you can click on your super hero power when it is fully charged.
                • Touchscreen
                  • Use your finger like a mouse.
                  • Tap on the screen in the direction you want your character to move.
                  • Character Select
                    • Players can choose to play as Raven, Beast Boy, Robin, Starfire or Cyborg. Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses, which are displayed in the table below.
                      • On the earlier levels where the game is slower players who are new to the game will probably do best with Cyborg since his attacks are strong and he has a lot of health.
                      • The game gets faster on higher levels & the best character to use may depend highly on both the player and the type of device they are playing on.
                      • Speed comes at a premium from level 6 onward.
                        • While Cyborg was the best character to play for the first 5 levels, other characters may be better for higher levels, as the game goes from one where you can almost always be in attack mode to one where you first have to evade attacks then counter-attack.
                        • Your character is part of your saved game data. You can’t switch characters in the middle of the game.
                        • Super Hero Health Attack Speed Overall
                          Raven 3 3 10 16
                          Best Boy 4 4 8 16
                          Robin 5 5 5 15
                          Starfire 7 5 4 16
                          Cyborg 10 10 3 23
                          • Strategy
                            • Stay in constant motion.
                              • If you are not moving it is easy for enemies to hit you.
                              • If you get hit multiple times in a row you will stand stunned for a bit, making it easier to get hit again while preventing you from attacking.
                              • You generally want to move in the direction of enemies to attack them, however even moving randomly is far superior to standing still as it makes it harder for them to hit you AND you are in attack mode whenever you move.
                              • Hit range attack enemies first.
                                • Some enemies can only hit when close by while others shoot guns or throw things at you.
                                • Enemies without range attack can only hit you by running into you.
                                • It is to your advantage to hit and kill the range attack enemies first, otherwise they can keep striking you from afar.
                                • If range attack enemies are far away (beyond the distance of one move) rather than go directly at them it is superior to come at an angle, so you are not going in a straight path which is easy for them to shoot at.
                                • Use your super hero powers strategically.
                                  • When the power is there you do not have to use it right away.
                                  • If you are rarely hit save it for when the screen is more full of enemies.
                                  • Look at the level progress meter at the top of the screen to get a good idea of when you are nearly done with the level and plan to use it just before the end of the level or just before a boss battle.
                                  • Read the enemies.
                                    • Some enemies only take a single hit to kill while other enemies may take multiple hits.
                                      • If an enemy takes multiple hits be prepared to evade them after making your first attack.
                                      • Some enemies explode when they die, glowing beforehand. Try not to be near the explosion when it happens.
                                      • Many enemies offer a visual cue before the attack like a blinking light.
                                      • Boss battle strategy
                                        • Roughly every other level has a boss battle. The boss battle can be thought of as a second part of a level & if you die in a boss battle you have to start the level from scratch.
                                          • Levels 2, 4, 8 and 10 have boss battles, while level 6 running out the clock is as difficult as a boss battle.
                                          • Each boss has periods in time when they are vulnerable and periods of time when they are either not vulnerable or less vulnerable. Most bosses typically have a daze about them with a puzzled look and stars while you can hit them.
                                          • Study the pattern of each boss and try to be evasive while they are strong and attack while they are vulnerable.
                                            • Some bosses may change their pattern after you do a significant amount of damage to them, so if what you were doing stops working try to evade them until you figure out the new pattern.
                                            • When the final boss is almost dead he initiates the boss attack routine even while many other enemies are on the screen.
                                            • While the bosses are not vulnerable try to clear out other enemies while avoiding the boss attacks.
                                            • Individual level bosses
                                              • Level 2: He shoots vertically from the top of the screen. Avoid him on a left and right basis.
                                                • Initially he shoots a red warning beam when he is near you, then shoots his beam, and gets stunned. As he is shooting the beam head toward the top of the screen so you can hit him. You can get multiple slashes in per stunned period.
                                                • He gets more aggressive and fires lasers more quickly when he is close to dying. When he is in that mode he fires a laser after every few steps as he moves across the screen then goes into stunned mode at the left & right edges of the screen, where you can hit him a few times each.
                                                • Level 4: He attacks from any direction.
                                                  • Try to keep your distance until he rushes so hard he runs into the edge of the screen and is dazed.
                                                  • As he passes you on the rush attack follow close behind and hit him a few times while he his dazed at the edge of the screen, then run away and repeat the process.
                                                  • Level 8: The huge laser shoots horizontally across the screen and he moves up or down with it active.
                                                    • Avoid his laser beam by either being at the top or bottom of the screen.
                                                    • After the laser appears and you have avoided it be sure to move toward the right edge so you can attack near the tank area and knock the skull off.
                                                    • After knocking the skull lose move back toward the center of the screen so that when the skull appears you can attack it a number of times to do more damage.
                                                    • Level 10: Attack the regular enemies and avoid the red circles on the ground. When he shoots his laser attack there is a horizontal beam near his head you need to be below.
                                                      • He typically does his boss attacks (beyond the red circles) after all enemies have been killed.
                                                      • His laser from his head goes slight left, center, slight right the first time. Then you can attack. You can hit him 5 or 6 times per round if you time it right.
                                                      • Next it goes slight right, center, slight left. Then you can attack.
                                                      • When his health is low he does the boss attack even with other enemies still on the screen.
                                                      • Adjust your strategy to the level.
                                                        • Until the pumpkins in level 6 the game is easy and you can be in attack mode at all times outside of boss battles.
                                                          • On the pumpkins it helps to first evade far enough away that they miss when they try to attack & then counter attack them.
                                                          • While avoiding the pumpkins keep moving around in various directions (though away from them) until the pile of enemies is consolidated in a small area you can slash through. Then when you do attack, make sure you click once again in the same direction to move away from them.
                                                            • Since the game is wider than tall it can be helpful to think of left and right as your primary directions while evading them.
                                                            • Speed comes at a premium from level 6 onward. While Cyborg was the best character to play for the first 5 levels, other characters may be better for higher levels. And you can not change your characters in the middle of the game.
                                                            • On the pumpkin level rather than you progressing through a level by killing a set number of enemies the goal of the level is to last until a timer counts to zero (so the level progress bar works in reverse).
                                                            • Level 9 is also a timed level, though rather than lasting a certain amount of time you have a set amount of time to destroy 40 bee hives.
                                                            • Dying
                                                              • If you die you can restart the current level.
